Madoff brings out the bigots

I've been thinking about this a lot lately.

Maybe it's because my friend, Frank, brought it up at a dinner party that Morgan and I hosted Saturday night. Maybe it's just because I'm angry that this disgraceful swindler, Bernard Madoff, took so much from so many.

Did you know the foundation started by Holocaust survivor, author and Nobel Prize winner Eli Wiesel lost everything because of this man?

The ramifications of Madoff's actions stretch beyond the pocketbooks of Hollywood investors such as Kevin Bacon, who also lost millions with Madoff.

Consider this excerpt from an AP story by Jennifer Peltz:

"The Anti-Defamation League cites a spike in anti-Semitic comments online after Madoff's Dec. 11 arrest. A columnist for the Israeli newspaper Haaretz lamented the case as "the answer to every Jew-hater's wish list."

I am a African American male from Detroit,MI. I am 26 and at FT.Benning,Georgia. even though I might get in trouble for typing these controversial words I don't care. The army is no place for todays youth from the inner city. There is too much racism and low patience. Now if you really want to join and fight this so-called war on terrorism then go for it. There are a total of over 3,600 dead soldiers and over 27,000 wounded soldier from March 19, 2003 to August 2, 2007 according to the Army Times Magazine. Those totals are just from Operation Iraqi Freedom. The total deaths from Operation Enduring Freedom are 1,448 injuries and 415 deaths from October 10, 2001 to August 2, 2007. The average age of these soldiers are from 18-24,which is the ripe age of a struggling ghetto youth. The black man has no place in the military unless they wish to lose contact with their roots. Turning the white man's way is not always the way out. Especially now in the situation our country is in. I can understand why someone would leave the street life to go kill legally! I'm just speaking from a inside the box stand point. With me being in the military I see day to day how the racism and favoritism and sexism floats about in uncle Sam's world. Let's not forget the drug use also, the main people you have to watch out for nowadays are the Army recruiters. They will manipulate a young African Americans mind to get him to believe that the military is the only way out of the ghetto. I propose to the government, better yet challenge them to put more money in the ghetto by rebuilding schools and hospitals. I challenge them to help these single mothers off welfare and find them a decent job. I challenge them to stop cutting summer programs out and free lunch for under-privileged youth. By cutting all these necessities to urban society you are limiting the youth of today and all their capabilities making the military their only option. When you enter the military you are trapped at least for three years. Please do not follow in my footsteps, stay in school and strive to do whatever it takes to stay away from the military. This war is not worth it,you have a better chance surviving in the streets than you do in Iraq.

Wow. How lucky I am that I picked tonight of all nights to stop by.

I need to do some homework before I can make any sort of educated comment.

But I kinda agree with this MicMarauder dude.
