I think celebrities let their egos get away from them when they start taking their political stands (rants) public.
Like I'm really going to let Madonna help me make my decision.
On the other hand, there are plenty of people who aren't paying attention and will hear their only argument for/against the candidates at Madonna's concert (or while watching Saturday Night Live). The question is, are they going to take the time Nov. 4 to vote?
Anyway, lilywhites/writes, I'm doing fabulously! I really miss the Ledger ... please don't ever take the ever-changing, boredom-prohibiting environment of the newspaper for granted.
Geez, it seems totally legitimate to expect musical entertainment at a concert instead of political propaganda, however, there is a legitimate point to be made.
Although McCain specifically has not been extraordinarily guilty of this, he is the Republican party standard bearer.
And the GOP has been pretty vocal in it's open demonization of an entire culture, for example, at a recent town hall when McCain took the microphone away from a citizen calling Obama a Arab, his response was, "No, he's a decent family man."
There has been little to no mention of the basic American premise that even if he WERE an Arab AND Muslim, he could still be not only a decent family man, but also patriotic, and, if 35 years old and born in the US, is completely eligible to be the President.
The meme that you can either be a Muslim or a patriotic American has been pushed at our nation for so many years now that it is virtually mainstream thought.
Now the comparison to Hitler may be pushing the envelope, but the nationalism displayed combined with the sub-humanization of Muslims as a group does have some parallels.
Bottom line - it sucks that politics had to mar what should have been a rock concert.
From your hubby's crazy liberal cousin back on the left coast.
In the two years and five months I've worked at the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer my role has changed from public safety reporter to public safety reporter/online Web cast anchor, back to public safety reporter, to television reporter/metro reporter to military reporter. So, as the new military reporter for the Ledger-Enquirer I'd like to say hello and thank you for meeting me here. My goals, as always, are to entertain and inform. The tools I'll use along the way will come from various sources, both public and personal. Enjoy!

Have you seen the cringe-inducing video of Palin with Hank Williams Jr.?
I'm not sure a washed-up, Redskins-jersey-wearing, former drug addict is who should be stumping during presidential races.
Here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2MKG2hFWao
The good news is, though, that Todd Palin looks less like a 'neck next to Hank.
Have a good vacation.

Praying he stays safe.
Thanks for all your feedback, guys. I love it!
